Here are some of the free-ish venues we’ve used in the past. These scenic spots are ideal for vow renewals, elopements and small ceremonies (5-10 guests).
Willie Oswalt Nature Preserve/Park – Lake City, GA
Located at 5455 Jonesboro Rd, Lake City, GA 30260, this natural park features a beautiful emerald green lake, lush greenery and a spring fountain in the center. The best part is that this area is free and open to the public. Choosing a venue like this means some looky-loos and maybe some passersby, but who doesn’t love love! They will likely congratulate you and be on their way.
Freeman’s Mill Park – Lawrenceville, GA
Located at 1401 Alcovy Road, Lawrenceville 30045, Freeman’s Mill is a trip back in time with a historic mill house as a beautiful, country-chic backdrop.
The mill was built on the Alcovy River between 1868 and 1879 by brothers John Griffin and Levi J. Loveless and was one of 1,262 water-powered mills in the state during that time. After the Loveless brothers ran the mill, W. Scott Freeman and his son, Winfield, owned it until it was purchased in 1915 by Newt Pharr. By 1996, it was said to be one of only 15 mills in the state in working order and the only one in Gwinnett County. The county purchased the mill from the Pharr family in 2001 and in 2009 restored the mill and surrounding 12 acres for education and recreational use.
Park hours are sunrise until sunset unless posted otherwise
Gazebo at Fayetteville
The Gazebo in the Fayetteville, GA square is often open early on weekends and weekdays. For special ceremonies with large amounts of guests, you will need to contact the city to ask for permission to hold a ceremony there. However, for couple-only gatherings, we’ve been able to facilitate ceremonies with no issues.
